A Little Catching Up!

Here are a few projects from our first week back from school after Christmas vacation:

These New Year Buddies are currently hanging in our classroom. Student wrote about their New Year's Resolution! The writing paper can be found in Cara Carroll's Happy New Year freebie packet at her tpt store.  The ideas of the buddies that go with it was from Learning in First.

How to build a snowman writing and art projects!  I have seen this many time on Pinterest and can be found at Apex Elementary Art.

We learned about the oi sound and made pig snouts to remind us of the "oink" sound that they make!  This idea was from Pinterest.

Last, but not least, we have a little snowman that the girls created at recess!

Let Freedom Ring!

For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day we read and discussed the many accomplishments of Dr. King, Jr. We then, used our facts to create a bubble map and then write about what we learned!

We used these sheets from the  free packets at Latoya Reed's TPT store from Flying into First Grade and Erin from Eberhart's Explorer's tpt store.

Later, we made these bells. Let freedom ring!  This idea was from Pinterest.

Me on the Map!

Hi everyone!  I hope that everyone is staying warm!  It is sooo cold here in Michigan!  We had inside recesses today and I think there will be more to come!  I wanted to share our Me on the Map projects that we just finished today!  The kids has so much fun putting them together! I got the templates for free from  Kim Cash's TPT Store.

I used clip art for the rest.

Tomorrow, I will be back with some of our Martin Luther King, Jr. activities that we also did today!

I Missed You!

I have tried many times to write this post.  I have been MIA for months, I know. You see, on Labor Day my dad was admitted into the hospital and has yet to come home. He has overcome a major illness. However, recovery is slow and involves huge obstacles to overcome.  Between my dad, being there for my mom, my own family and work, it has been consuming!  I have tried to keep up to date on all of you through my Google Reader.
As you may remember, this is my first year in first grade. Although it has been a challenge to learn a new grade in the midst of everything else that is going on, it has been a WONDERFUL experience. I adored teaching kindergarten all those years.  however, first grade is a whole new adventure and I am loving every minute of it. My class is precious and I feel so blessed!
I hope to be posting more often and begin sharing again. I appreciate all of you and the support you have given in the past. I also feel so blessed to be a part of this wonderful blog land of awesome teachers like you!
Thank you!
