Presidents!

We had a great time learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln this week!  We made these lift the flap Abraham Lincoln's with the writing on the inside!

You can get this project and her George Washington at A Cupcake for the Teacher (We will write tomorrow).

These are the three corner hats that we made and wore to help us remember that George Washington was our First President!

I have seen these hats at many sites.  I originally saw this in a Mailbox magazine.

Today we wrote about George Washington and then completed this art project.  I saw this idea from The First Grade Parade.

I LOVE Fran from Kindergarten Crayons!  She created these wonderful books for the students along with a teacher copy!  I purchased both of them!  You can check them out here!

This Venn Diagram is from Deanna's America Math and Literacy Fun pack.  (Sorry the it is curling just a bit in this picture)

100 Days!!

Well, we finally made it to 100 days of school!  Hooray!!
Here are some snapshots of our special day!
This banner may be hard to see.  This is what greeted us at the door.  I got this a few years back from Really Good Stuff.
DK, Kindergarten and a First Grade Class worked together to create this mural.  Each child is assigned a square with a number to decorate.  They are 7X7 squares.  If you would like a copy of the letter I send home, please leave a comment with your email and I will be happy to pass it along!
We made these AWESOME hats!  They placed 10 stickers on 10 strips of paper and attached to the headband.  I got this idea and the printable from Mrs. Morrow's Kindergarten.  She so kindly emailed me the label for the headbands!
Number Hunt!  I placed random numbers on post it notes around the room.  They had a blast finding the numbers and highlighting them on their 100's chart!

This is a small 100's chart.  I colored 5-6 different ones and then cut them out into puzzles.  They sorted the pieces by color and then put together each puzzle.
I had seen these counting mats on several blogs.  They had fun making 10 groups of 10!  Here we have jelly beans and then below are dog treats!

We also made 100 Gumballs!  The idea and printable is from Little Scholars.

Finally, we made these necklaces fromOriental Trading.

We had a blast, but now I am exhausted!  Now, we will spend the rest of the month focusing on Presidents Day, USA symbols and Dental Health!

More Valentine Fun!

Here are a few more Valentine Activities that we have been doing!  First here is a Valentine CVC match.  I found this at Kelly's Kindergarten.

Here is a short writing activity.  They completed the form and glued to a heart that they painted.  These were compiled into a classbook.  Each child's page will be placed in their Kindergarten Scrapbooks at the end of the year.   I got this freebie from Mrs. Shehan's Full Day Kindergarten Site.  Her site is FULL of free printables for each month!

Finally, here are the glow stick valentines that I will be passing out tomorrow! You can grab the free printable from The Teacher Wife.

LONG Post-Valentine's Day, Groundhogs Day, and Winter!

Ok, this will be a long post!  I have so much to post for our happenings for the last week or so!  We have busy and I do not see it getting quieter anytime soon with Valentine's Day, 100th Day, President's Day and Dental Health Month!!  Whew!
So, anyways, first off, here is a glance at some of our current Stations!
This first photo is of our current pocket chart station.  It is from Deanna Jump's Valentine Unit!  I just love her units!

This is a puzzle station:

For write around the room, we are going a Heart Hunt!  I have had this for awhile and cannot remember where I got it from.  If you know, please leave me a comment so that I give proper credit!  The sheet indicates where to find the hearts.  The hearts have CVC pictures on them.  They then write the CVC word on the sheet.

Groundhog's Day!  I got some awesome freebies from First Grade Blue Skies!  The prediction sheet and headbands were a big hit!  We completed most of the sheet the day before.
First we completed a class graph using the an awesome freebie!  I almost did not want to post this because I cannot locate where the graph pictures are from.  Can anyone help me out?
Only one student and I predicted that the groundhog with see his shadow.  Everyone else thought he wouldn't.  I guess they are all looking forward to spring!  They then used the information to complete the prediction sheet.  We had too many Spring choices, so we filled it to the top at 12.
I used the same headband groundhog for the top of our graph, but the picture did not come out that nice.  Here is the bottom:

We attached the groundhog prediction sheet to our heart shaped groundhogs that we made.  The idea came from an old Mailbox magazine.

Here is A Snowy Day writing project that we did.  I placed their faces on each one and they came out so cute!
We also completed this winter weather writing/craft from A Cupcake for the Teacher:

Some other valentine activities that we completed this week include:
I purchased this from First Grade Blue Skies!  They came out so cute!
