Halloween Stations

Here is a glimpse at some of our stations from last week.  Some were Halloween related.
This matching activity was a free download.  I can't seem to figure out the site that it came from.  If you know, please let me know!!!  I did find a colored version from Mrs.Freshwater's Class Blog.  The version that I used had colored pictures and I cut and laminated onto construction paper.

This was a counting activity that we did using Halloween cups from the Dollar General and pumpkin erasers from Target.  I usually use plastic pumpkins instead of cups.  I could not find them!  So, this was my backup plan!
We are blessed with MANY resources from Lakeshore!  This is a Beginning Sound matching activity that we worked on!
These are just a set of rhyming cards that I grabbed at some point from a Dollar store somewhere.  They love using the pocket chart.  So, viola!  Another station!

So, what have you been up to??

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

H is For Halloween!

Hi everyone!  We are studying about letter H this week.  It is always fun to combine it with our Halloween activities!  Here are a few activites from today!
I LOVE this book and the kids love it when I hand out the stick puppets to make the sound effects!
We have been learning about bats and read Stellaluna today.  We then made paper bag bats.  I got the idea from Kinder By Kim.  I love her sight!!!  We used sight words to finish the bat facts on the back and then stapled a Bat Fact booklet to a wing.

This is a page (front and back) for their Kindergarten Scrapbooks!  They colored a Haunted House (for letter h) and then wrote two things they might see inside.  On the other side a parent helped them make handprint spiders.  We then completed these sentences about their spider.

Finally, these are the Hh hats that they made yesterday and wore today!  I got this idea here.  They have a craft page for each letter and holiday!  Great ideas!

Well, that is it for today!  Day 2 of the kitchen remodel was even messier!  It will get better...right?

YIKES! It's Been Awhile!

Oh BOY!  It has been a long time!!!  We had Conferences last week and then a busy weekend!  We started our kitchen remodel.  I am sure that you can imagine what that is like!  The refrigerator and microwave are now in the sun room!  Cupboards are emptied and loaded into tubs!  I now have a hole in the wall!  See some photos at the end of this post!

Today, we began some of our Halloween Activities!

This is an Itsy Bitsy Spider project that we completed today!  They loved pointing to the words and pictures as they sang the song and then moving the spider up and down the "spout!"

We sorted and graphed leaves!

This week we will also learn about bats and spiders!

Our house is over 100 years old.  Over the past 14 years we have made many upgrades and changes to our farm house.  We are FINALLY doing the kitchen!  I wish I had rememered to take some before pics!
This will soon be my walk in pantry!!

That whole in the wall used to be my built in China cabinet.  It was on the other side of the wall (dining room)  I will miss it!!  This wall on this side was a wall of cupboards.  More of the wall will be coming out tomorrow!

Today was supposed to be our APPLE DAY!  We will give it a go for tomorrow!  Conferences are next week and we so much to accomplish by then!
So, a day at home!  What to do?!  I tackled my son's room.  Result:  one tub of clothes for my nephews and two bags to get rid of!  I went through my room last night...now that leaves my daughter's room!  I am also getting caught up on laundry, Google Reader and Pinterest!  Gotta love it!

Pumpkin and Pancake Fun, Grandparents' Day and Rainbow Hair

Well, this week was another VERY busy one!!!  We studied the letter P and used Pumpkins and Pancakes to help us!

We made pancakes for a special snack and completed Pumpkin Science activities.  We used the sheet from Mrs. Lee's Kindergarten Blog!

Here is our window display.  We painted pumpkin lunch bags and then the paper plate pumpkins were an idea from Pinterest.

We completed our Color Fun Days with Rainbow Day!  We completed the following activities for the Rainbow Hair poem.  The kids LOVED their own Rainbow Hair!

You can't see it from this picture, but I also gave them typed color words that they had to glue onto the matching color prior to puting the hat together.

The poem is glued onto the back.  We also used Deanna's FREE Rainbow Hair emergent reader (not pictured)!

Our Grandparents' Day Open House was last Thurday evening.  There was an AWESOME turn out in my classroom!  16 out of 20 students came with their grandparents.  One of the activities was to make a keepsake like the one below:

One of our new sight words this week was the.  To help us remember, we made Kindergarten Crayons' awesome Free headband

She has many more available in her wonderful Sight Word Packets!

We also spent time particiapting in the O.R.E.O Project by Projects By Jen!  Each child made a prediction of how many OREO cookies that they could stack before their tower tumbles.  Then they have two chances to see how high they can stack them.  Students were introduced to tally marks too.  They had a great time!  Our class average was 17 cookies.

Another activity we did was a picture sort.  They had to determine which pictures began with F, T, L and P:
I used the book, Words Their Way, for the pictures and letters.

Finally, we also had the local fire department visit the school.  We made fire hats and learned about fire safety/prevention!

Well, that is it for now!  Next week is all about APPLES!

Letter F and More Stations

It was another great week!  We studied letter F.  Our theme was the Rainbow Fish.  Here are a few things we did:

This was done in the Creation Station.  The song that goes with it and is glued to the back is:
It's a Fish!
(tune:  "Six Little Ducks")
What has fins and a swishy tail?
What has gills and is covered with scales?
What swims and glides aournd in the sea?
I know the answer-it's a fish, you see!
Fish, you see!  Fish, you see!
I know the answer-it's a fish, you see!

Fruit Loop Necklaces!

Paper Plate Rainbow Fish-I found this idea on Pinterest, which was from Pinterest.  The site it is from is The Weekly Hive.

Here were some of our stations this week:

Write Around the Room-They had to find and write the color words.  This sheet was found from Maggie's Kinder Corner

Counting Station-We are blessed with a WONDERFUL Resource Room with many awesome products from Lakeshore Learning. We used the Frogs, Fish and Flower counting boxes for letter F!

ABC Station:  They had to place the letter into the Leapfrog Fridge Phonics and then match it onto the ABC chart.

Pocket Chart Station:
They are to place the word cards in order to build the sentences that match their current Sight Word Reader, My Bear.  They also match the picture to the sentence.  Below is a picture of the readers we use.  There is a book with the black and white version of the books so that copies can be made for each child.

Next week is Letter P!  Pumpkins and Pancakes!
